Senior Product Manager, Procurement

Product Management

Bellevue, Chicago, San Francisco

Senior Product Manager, Procurement

The opportunity:

Are you looking for the opportunity to make an immediate impact on a global, trillion dollar industry? If so then Flexport might be the place for you. Flexport  is on a mission to make global trade easier -and more efficient- for everyone. We are revolutionizing an industry that touches every person on Earth, every day. This means solving some of the world’s most complex challenges, while our company grows at a breakneck speed.

We’re looking for an organized, motivated and detail-oriented person to join the Product Management Marketplace team to lead the Procure to Pay work stream.  As part of the Marketplace team, you’ll contribute to projects that enable flexport to reduce cost per shipment and to build the infrastructure that will enable Flexport scale.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen and curiosity to a complex domain and strives to make the most intelligent products ever built in the industry. As Senior Product Manager, you’ll need to drive alignment across a complex landscape, and create innovative, new methods of doing business. You’ll be required to dive deep into data and be open to learn from and teach industry veterans. You’ll get the chance to lead product delivery that will impact thousands of users. You’ll also get to help set the direction of the Marketplace team.

You will:

  • Dive deep into customer needs to define next-generate procurement products.
  • Build a strategic vision and then work backwards from this to define actionable roadmaps.
  • Become a domain expert, understanding the market and competitive landscape to solve real problems with technology.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and leaders across Data Science, Procurement, Supply and Operations. Influence their buy-in on the strategic vision and build world class Procure2Pay products that create competitive advantage for Flexport.
  • Guide, develop and mentor more junior PMs on the Procurement team and across Marketplace.
  • Dive deep into data to drive meaningful business decisions, ruthlessly prioritize roadmaps, and measure impact.
  • Develop products that are intuitive and reduce the cognitive load on our operations teams and customers.
  • Learn to work with and balance the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders across Flexport’s procurement products
  • Conduct build vs buy analysis on key product areas and make recommendations. Negotiate contracts with vendors and build mutually beneficial strategic partnerships.

You should have:

  • 6-8+ years experience as a Product Manager, preferably within both startup and complex environments
  • Experience as a manager, including professional and personal development of more junior Product Managers
  • Demonstrated expertise with procurement or supply chain, the ability to bring lessons learned and best practices to create a world-class vision
  • Crystal clear written, spoken, and presentation skills, with a bias toward over-communication and inclusivity
  • Ability and desire to drive the software development lifecycle and ability to relentlessly prioritize and focus on key deliverables
  • Experience using market insights and customer research to craft long term vision and roadmaps.
  • Ability to contribute to a highly complex set of products in a rapidly changing domain
  • Business acumen with curiosity to learn and become an expert on a complex product
  • Proven experience transforming independent products into a cohesive platform
