Senior Global Customs Associate

This position will have a primary focus on the UK market, while also supporting other EU countries.

You will:

  • Provide support, guidance and regulatory interpretation in the following areas: Product Import/Export Documentation, Classification, Customs Clearance, Export Licensing, Technical Data, Denied Party Lists, Broker Management, Incoterms, Hazardous Materials, etc.
  • Implement UK customs processes across the Flexport organization.
  • File Import, Export and NCTS declarations through the different customs portals.
  • Manage all new client onboarding tasks.
  • Serve as a single point of coordination between import customers (internal and external) and various EU Customs Divisions.
  • Coordinate the release of goods from the carrier, Customs or other governmental agency examinations that may be required.
  • Individually draft appeals and requests for refunds with the Tax Authorities.
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service by proactively informing clients of the status of their shipments using your judgment and knowledge.

You should have:

  • Significant experience in a similar role within the UK market making declarations for import for free circulation, export, transit and other special procedures such as IPR. Diplomas are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of EU Customs law, local UK legislation, procedures and additional certificates.
  • Experience with CHIEF and UK port community systems. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Working proficiency of English.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Positive attitude with a drive to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it.
